12 of our teens from Victoria were up bright and early on July 3rd for a 6.30 am flight to the Gold Coast. The crew made it to Queensland for a week-long leadership training conference alongside teens from right across Australia.
The conference, called CHOSEN, is designed to empower and inspire young leaders – and to give them an opportunity to meet other young people who are taking an active role in their local churches.
On the first day, the crew enjoyed a tour of the Gold Coast with youth director/ local guide Pr Sean Berkeley before heading up to the conference in Brisbane later in the afternoon.
Jeff Parker from AUC Youth Ministries shares that “Chosen is designed especially to inspire our teens with a vision of their enormous leadership potential and begin the preparation process to equip them as leaders for the church. The training looks specifically at personal spirituality, healthful living (e.g. diet, exercise, fresh air), the power of teamwork, the mentoring process, God’s purpose for individuals as well as His purpose for the Adventist church.”
A massive thank you to our mentors Ashleigh and Darcy for looking after the group and pouring into them spiritually the whole week 🙌
The crew had a wonderful time and have come back excited about how they can lead in their local spheres.
Darcy shares that “Every single person that came, I believe, not only was meant to be there, but got an amazing experience out of it, and they will be forever changed when they go back to their home town.”
Chosen was held for the first time in 2008 and again in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2022.
